CEO Susanne Wiegand to depart GERMAN NAVAL YARDS – Holger Kahl continues business operations

After ten successful years, Susanne Wiegand will step down from the management of the German Naval Yards shipyard group on December 31st, 2017 to take on new professional challenges outside the company.

According to a GNYK spokesperson, Co-Managing Director Holger Kahl will continue the business operations until a successor is appointed for Ms. Wiegand. "We all regret tremendously that Susanne Wiegand is leaving our company. We thank her for her tireless and successful efforts and wish her all the best for the future" said the spokesperson.

In 2007 Susanne Wiegand took over the management of NOBISKRUG GmbH together with Holger Kahl. In 2011 and 2013, the former surface shipbuilding of HDW-Gaarden (now GERMAN NAVAL YARDS KIEL GmbH) and LINDENAU Werft were included in the shipyard group.

Today, GERMAN NAVAL YARDS is one of the largest employers in Schleswig-Holstein with around 1000 employees. Military surface ships are being built again at the Kiel site. The shipyard is involved in the German government's order to build five corvettes for the German Navy. With this year's delivery of the largest private sailing yacht in the world, the NOBISKRUG shipyard in Rendsburg has set a precedent in the industry. Another Superyacht “Project 790" which is currently under construction will be further historic milestone for the entire shipyard group.
